Dancehall Star Continues His Tireless Work, Preparing to Release the Follow-Up to 2020’s ‘Vent’
Kingston, Jamaica — Dancehall sensation Dexta Daps is working hard to complete his highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Trilogy’. The album follows his successful 2020 release, ‘Vent’, which spent three non-consecutive weeks at number one on the US Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
Dexta Daps shared his excitement about the upcoming album, stating, “We have a lot of work going on. Just look out for the album ‘Trilogy’, it’s coming soon. We’re putting together a nice project for the people.” ‘Trilogy’ promises to deliver another impressive collection of tracks, building on the momentum of ‘Vent’.
In September 2021, a 32-track ‘Vent’ (Deluxe edition) was released via Dexta Daps Music Group. The deluxe edition featured collaborations with notable artists, including Pressure Busspipe, Marlon Asher, Patrice Roberts, Kemar Highcon, Konshens, Louie Culture, Tory Lanez, Drumma Boy, and Afrobeat sensation Davido.
Dexta Daps recently teamed up with Davido on the track ‘Bop’, which peaked at number 22 on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart. The song is featured on Davido’s fourth studio album, ‘Timeless’. Dexta Daps expressed his appreciation for working with Davido, saying, “Mi just excited ’bout tings like that, cause is a big achievement. Davido is a friend of mine fi a long time now, and yuh done know the connection is inevitable. It’s just a good strength to go pon supp’n weh ago mek history. Definitely appreciate Davido.”
The dancehall artist credits his fans, particularly his female fans, as the driving force behind his motivation to perform. He explained, “I just keep going at it. You know say the ladies dem keep me going. ‘Cause at the end of di day, we keep on singing fi dem, and dem keep on showing we love.”
Known for hits like ‘Seven Eleven’, ‘Call Me If’, ‘Breaking News’, and ‘Shabba Madda Pot’, Dexta Daps continues to make waves in the dancehall scene. His most recent hit single, ‘Forever’, peaked at number two on the Magnum Top Ten chart.
