Paramount created a buzz at CinemaCon on Thursday, showcasing a moving first glimpse of the upcoming film “Bob Marley: One Love”
The biographical drama, which centers on the life of groundbreaking reggae singer Bob Marley, features Kingsley Ben-Adir in the lead role after an extensive worldwide casting search. Lashana Lynch co-stars as Marley’s wife, Rita Marley. The music icon’s son, Ziggy Marley, introduced the trailer at CinemaCon, the annual film industry expo taking place this week in Las Vegas.
“I’m honored to be here today representing this movie about my father,” said Ziggy Marley. “I stand here as a producer of this film and a guardian of my father’s remarkable legacy… his message of unity and love remains as relevant as ever.” Reinaldo Marcus Green, who directed Will Smith to an Oscar in “King Richard,” helms the project. The screenplay is penned by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers, and Terence Winter. The film is sure to feature an unforgettable soundtrack, including Marley’s iconic songs like “No Woman, No Cry,” “Exodus,” “Redemption Song,” “Could You Be Loved,” and “Buffalo Soldier.”
The trailer offers a glimpse of Ben-Adir’s transformative portrayal of Marley, capturing the artist’s incredible rise from his modest beginnings in Jamaica to international superstardom. The preview features scenes of Marley performing in massive stadiums for devoted fans, along with moments spent with his family and enjoying soccer games. The trailer concludes with one of Marley’s most enduring quotes: “One love, one heart, one destiny.”
The shooting of “Bob Marley: One Love” has recently been completed, and the film is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024. “People will deepen their connection to Bob and honor him in the right way,” Ziggy Marley assured.
In addition, Paramount offered sneak peeks of other highly anticipated releases, including “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.”
