Grammy nominee Protoje, renowned for his reggae beats, is taking a delightful detour into the realm of children’s books. His debut, “Here Comes The Morning,” co-written with youthful authors Azibo and Gyasi Bookman, aged 12 and 9 respectively, is set for release on November 18, 2023. This book, inspired by his daughter Yara’s curious musings about the sun’s whereabouts after sunset, takes young readers to a Caribbean island’s lighthouse. It’s a tale that nurtures curiosity and underscores the value of a parent’s love and guidance.
The launch of this book, aimed at children aged 3 to 7, will be celebrated at a signing event hosted by Protoje and The Bookboys at Busboy and Poets – Anacostia in Washington D.C. This event, featuring the special collector’s edition, invites fans of all ages to join from 4-6 pm ET on the release day.
“Here Comes The Morning” isn’t just a literary adventure; it’s a creative extension of Protoje’s 2022 Grammy-nominated album “Third Time’s The Charm,” which includes the eponymous track. Illustrated by Jonathan Nelson, the book is available at PROTOJE.COM and BOOKMANEXPRESS.PUB, under Sapling Books.
Protoje’s artistic repertoire also includes his recent remix album, “In Search Of Zion,” launched on November 10. This album reimagines his 2020 hit, “In Search of Lost Time,” with dub versions of each track. With this move into children’s literature, Protoje broadens his artistic horizon, connecting his musical prowess with storytelling that captivates young and imaginative minds.
