Shaggy, Spice, and Akon Tease Exciting New Collaboration

The Three Artists Join Forces in the Studio, Hinting at a Powerful Upcoming Release

Kingston, Jamaica — Jamaican music fans are in for a treat as Shaggy, Spice, and Senegalese-American singer Akon hint at a new collaboration. A video of the trio in the recording studio was shared on Shaggy’s official Instagram page last Friday, accompanied by a caption that read, “Heat on da way!!!”

Selector and producer Jazzy T from Renaissance Disco responded to the post, commenting, “This look serious.” Another notable producer, Trackstarr, known for hits like Hood Celebrityy’s “Walking Trophy” and Kemar Highcon’s “So Saucy,” chimed in with, “Ye Ye Ye back in business. Work work work.”

This isn’t the first time Shaggy and Spice have worked together. The duo recently collaborated with Sean Paul on the club banger “Wine and Go Down Deh,” featured on Spice’s debut album ’10’. The track “Bad Girl” from the same album also features Shaggy.

In 2007, Shaggy and Akon teamed up for the single “What’s Love,” the third release from Shaggy’s eighth studio album ‘Intoxication’. The song enjoyed chart success, peaking at number 52 on Germany’s Official Singles chart.

Akon has a history of collaborating with Jamaican acts, having worked with Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Don Yute, and Stephen Marley, among others. He also signed Jamaican duo Brick and Lace to his Konlive label, which released their album ‘Love is Wicked’. In 2008, Akon featured on Tami Chynn’s “Frozen,” which reached number three on Billboard’s Dance Music Club Play chart.

Akon’s 2006 album ‘Konvicted’ included the track “Don’t Matter,” which samples Bob Marley’s “Zimbabwe,” and a cover of Peter Tosh’s “Mama Africa.”

As anticipation builds for this new collaboration between Shaggy, Spice, and Akon, fans eagerly await the release of what promises to be a powerful addition to the Jamaican music scene.
